It amazes me the movies I stumble across in the middle of the night on TMC (Turner Classic Movies). One movie I discovered during a sleepless night was Demon Seed. Demon Seed is basically a cautionary tale about artificial intelligence and the dangers it represents, if left unchecked, to mankind. But what I will remember most about the movie is what Susan Harris (played by Julie Christie) went through. It was disturbing to watch or think about. I can only imagine what audiences in 1977 thought about the movie. They had not experienced the likes of Saw like me. It must have been shocking to them. So if you want to experience a story by Dean Kootnz through a 1977 movie lens Demon Seed is for you.
